simulacra is a series of horror games developed by kaigan games. they simulate the experience of exploring through a phone, with messages, a gallery, and etc. mostly texting. in the games you must go through the phone to uncover the secret of what happened to its previous owner.
the simulacra series includes Sara Is Missing, Pipe Dreams, and Simulacra one through three.
i love, love, love the simulacra games. theyre my favorite and first example of "EVIL AI" as a trope. i love the choices, and the fact they actually lead to different things and endings. it feels actually satisfying to do puzzles and solve stuff, and despite the characters being a bit... oddly written, theyre still likeable and fitting. i also adore how the games feed into your paranoia, with background noises or small changes in appearance you dont notice but that still freak you out.
the games tend to follow the same storyline and be a bit repetitive in gameplay, but theyre all still super fun to play and very well-made. i mea, theyre games about an evil ai trying to create the ideal world by killing humans. you cant tell me that isnt cool. simulacrums are awesome and im glad the concept was utilized so well, especially in the first simulacra game.
i recommend them to anyone to play them. theyre seriously underrated. sure, they have a bunch of gameplays but you never see anyone really talk about them anymore, and i do think theyre worth the time.
